Dr. Dennis Teoh strives to help our North Sydney family dental patients maintain their natural teeth for as long as possible. To do this, it is vital for us to educate our patients on how to thoroughly care for their smiles and answer questions concerning the care and prevention of their teeth.
Gum disease is triggered by plaque and tartar buildup. Brushing twice a day and flossing daily can prevent buildup and the development of gum infections. Unfortunately, some people are predisposed to periodontitis due to other health factors, genetics and even stress. Seeing your hygienist for routine preventative cleanings can help you keep your smile healthier longer.
Overlooking your checkup allows tartar buildup to continue developing across hard-to-reach areas of your teeth. This can lead to cavities, bad breath and gum disease. It is critical that each of our patients schedule a preventative care appointment at least every six months to ensure the best oral health possible.
Should you have a broken tooth, ring our practice straightaway. Keep the area around your tooth clean and avoid chewing with it. If you are in pain, our North Sydney dentist will do everything he can to alleviate your discomfort as soon as possible.
Dental X-rays allow Dr Teoh to assess important areas of your tooth, such as the nerve, dental roots and bone surrounding it. They are also used to evaluate your jaw alignment and screen for periodontal disease, cavities and tumours. We usually recommend taking a set of two bitewing X-rays every two years and a panoramic X-ray every five years.
Some types of odour-causing bacteria lie in areas other than the teeth. Cleaning your tongue with a soft scraper can help get rid of such bacteria when used in conjunction with brushing and flossing. Dr Teoh may also recommend a certain type of mouthwash.
Whichever specific health issue you're currently facing, we'll be more than glad to give you a pre-appointment, free consultation on it!
New patients are always welcome.
